Gokarna is a small town situated in the Arabian Sea. Located in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka, the place caters to a beautiful scenic experience along with an adventurous roller coaster. Gokarna is mainly known for its beaches and temples.
My Experience in Gorkarna
Shantidham Cottages
This stay is located adjacent to the Om beach. In order to reach the stay, one needs to trek for 200 to 300 meters. Shantidham is a sea view stay. The serene atmosphere of the stay sets a pleasant mood for the guests. Inside the stay, there are small cottages at a height. We had traveled from Bangalore by bus to reach Gokarna. The food of the cottage is average especially if you are a fan of spices and flavors. However, if you are an adventure lover, then it is worth booking this stay.
Om Beach
From an aerial point of view, the shape of the beach looks like that of the symbol of ॐ . This beach attracts all types of family crowds and is the most crowded beach in Gokarna. There are multiple water sport options that you can consider opting for. The Arabian Sea looks heavenly from this beach. We had taken a steamer ride on the first day of our trip for half an hour sightseeing which includes the paradise beach, half-moon beach, and the lighthouse.
Paradise Beach
This beach is one of the most isolated and secluded beaches in Gokarna. In order to reach there, you need to hire a steamer from Om or Kudle beach. However, there is a quirky trick for adventure lovers- from the Belakan village, there is a direct route to Paradise beach which goes through the mountain edges. We had taken that route and returned before sunset on the second day of our trip. There are only tents available on this beach which is the sole stay option at the beach. This beach is ideal for solo travelers and adventure lovers.
Kudle Beach
This beach is within the proximities of Om beach and is an elite escape for all kinds of travelers. We had spent an amazing time on this beach. The cool breeze and serene ambiance make it an ideal destination for couples.
Half Moon Beach
The name of the beach completely justifies its shape. While doing Ferri riding on the first day of our trip, we had experienced a splendid glimpse of the beach.
Vibhooti Falls
On our second day of exploration, we had started with this stunning site. The way to reach the place is a little daunting but the spectacular picturesque of the waterfalls makes it worth it.
Yana Caves
The colossal and magnificent Yana cave is one of the must-visit places in Gokarna. There is a lot to explore inside the cave.
Gokarna Main Beach
It was dark when we reached this beach on the second day of our trip. It is located nearby the marketplace and is ideal for families.
Sree Maha Ganpati Temple
On the third day of our trip, we visited the holy shrine of Ganpati to seek his blessings. There are small stalls nearby where one can relish a variety of lip-smacking sweets.
Restaurants and Food
Taste is subjective hence it depends upon the preferences. Although it was a little difficult to find an ideal place for a spicy lover like me who prefers mostly Indian cuisines. However, there are some amazing restaurant options on Kudle beach.
Gokarna Market
The huge marketplace attracts a lot of crowds. Starting from Bohemian accessories to cool T-shirts to utensils to fancy and aesthetically designed home decors, this place is a one-stop destination for all your shopping desires.
Gokarna is an exquisite abode that offers peace and serenity to its visitors. It was an incredible experience to explore the place.
